SAFEGUARDING

SAFEGUARDING IS CENTRAL TO EVERYTHING WE DO AT ST LEONARD’S & WOOTTON ST LAWRENCE.

It is important for everyone, both adults and children, to feel loved, known, cared for, and safe as they take part in church life.

All church staff, group leaders and volunteers are safely recruited, work within clearly defined role descriptions, complete relevant safeguarding training and have appropriate enhanced DBS certificates following guidelines of the Diocese of Winchester and the Church of England.

We believe that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and an integral part of a caring culture where all of us commit to look after one another.

This dimension of church life is overseen by:

REPORTING A SAFEGUARDING CONCERN

If you are concerned that a child or an adult is, or may be, at risk of abuse this should be reported immediately (within 24 hours) to the Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) or a member of the clergy.

If it is an emergency situation and you believe the child or adult is in immediate danger of significant harm, then you should call 999 before reporting it to one of the Safeguarding Officers.
