This year Ben will be leading a series of reflective meditations on the Psalm Jesus prayed from the cross: 'My God, My God, Why Have You Forsake Me?' (Ps 22:1). As we confront the cross – the depth of its darkness and the radiant hope of God's mercy – this service offers space and stillness, confession and prayer, music and silence.
HOLY SATURDAY
4TH APRIL 2026
Easter Vigil: Service of Light & First Eucharist of Easter
Winchester Cathedral
7:30pm
Service:
Location:
Time:
From earliest times Christians have gathered through the night of Easter to recall the story of God's saving work, from creation through to the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we participate in narrative of God's redemption, we are invited to experience for ourselves new life of Easter, a passing from darkness to light which offers hope to all God's faithful people. The Easter Vigil marks the end of the emptiness of Holy Saturday, and leads into the celebration of Christ's resurrection.
This year we are encouraging anyone who wishes to join us to come along to the beautiful Easter Vigil service at Winchester Cathedral.
